Douglas John Earnshaw (known simply as DJ) had a varied
career before he got wind of the outdoor life of a nurseryman.
He served in the 1st Calvary Division in Vietnam, was
a car salesman and a radio announcer (hence the name
DJ) before switching to the good life on acreage in
the Piggabeen Valley, west of Tweed Heads in New South
Wales (Australia).
There he enjoys looking after Frangipani
DJs Way Nursery with help from administrator Debbi and
nursery staff Greg. Established in 2000, Frangipani
DJs Way now exports to the world and regularly imports
new varieties.
DJ decided to learn the nursery business,
but when it was time to branch out on his own he "didn't
want to do what everyone else was doing".
That was when he discovered the colourful
flowers and romantic scent of frangipanis or, as he
explains, they discovered him. |

| While the business of Frangipani
DJs Way is growing, the plants are low maintenance.
His dream job also had DJ travelling to
far way, exotic destinations in search of frangipanis. Although
we start many of our varieties from cuttings, DJ doesn't sell
cuttings, only rooted plants. This gives the plant the best
opportunity to grow and flower in it's new home.
